Should I continue learning the wrong way comfortably or comfortably learn the right way?

As the title states I have an issue. I’m new to play in the guitar and I’ve run into an issue where I’m worse at alternate picking when I hold my guitar left-handed and I’m better at striking frets and playing songs that I like by ear; but when I hold it the correct way(with my right-dominant hand holding the pick) I am much better at alternate picking but I’m horrible at striking frets with my non-dominant left hand.
