Desperate and stuck
I’m 18 years old, and right now I’m stranded in Toronto after leaving home. I took a bus down from Kenora with just a suitcase and a plan to figure things out once I got here — but it’s been harder than I expected.
I left home because it wasn’t safe for me anymore. I don’t want to get into too much detail, but I couldn’t stay there — mentally or emotionally. My plan is to make it to Vancouver where my grandmother lives. She’s offered to take me in and help me get back on my feet, but I just need to find a way there.
For now, I’ve been sleeping in Pearson airport and at a few local shelters. It’s been rough. I struggle with anxiety — especially around people — and it’s made navigating the city, asking for help, and even using basic resources feel overwhelming. I haven’t been able to get much sleep, and my nerves are shot. But I’m still trying.
I’ve been reaching out anywhere I can, trying to raise enough money for a one-way plane ticket to Vancouver. Right now, I’m still short — but if enough people helped just a little, it would be enough.
I’m not asking for much — just anything you’re able to give. Even $1 helps. If 100 people sent $1, I could be on a flight home by the end of this week.
My e-transfer is: mommasyd96@gmail.com (Please include a note if you’d like — I’ll read every one.)
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I know there are so many people in need — I’m just trying to be one of the lucky ones who makes it through.
