Confused about tires-2022 with 70K miles
Hello everyone! Thank you for sharing your time.
I have a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid SE, presently at 70K Miles on the OEM Michelin Primacy A/S Tires 225/60R18 100H.
I have been meaning to change out the tires, presently tire treads at 6/32" pretty evenly-just had them rotated today.
I live in the DMV area, and in close proximity to Costco, Sams and BJs.
I would prefer Costco for the tires (since I have their card-so looking at an additional 4% off), but open to all (have Sams basic membership).
I have shortlisted:
(1) Michelin Crossclimate 2 ($228ea|$912)(given the slush/snow/rain we got this year). Not sure when Michelin will be on sale again. The Crossclimate 3 is already out there, but no word yet of US release!!
Presently Bridgestone is on sale-was eyeing the **(2)**Turanza Prestige ($224ea|$860 w/discount)-there is a general lack of reviews given its apaarently a new release.
Also considering **(3)**Michelin Defender 2 ($220ea|$880), the **(4)**Primacy A/S ($229ea|$940), their price is a tossup.
All are in my budget, obviously would prefer a cheaper option, but not at cost of safety.
Need some inputs to help me decide. I have gone through so many posts that I am more confused than when I began.
A) Which tire? Would you recommend any other brand?
B) Where to get it from?
C) Any significant hits in MPG going from primacy to CC2, for example? Over the years, I have been at 41-42mpg on average.
My other thoughts
a) Is Costco reliable? What has been your experence?
b) Do they install your own TPM sensors (that your tires previously had)? I am seeing a $2.99/tire TPM service pack charge I don't know details about.
c) Apart from tire balancing (which is included), is there any other service that you would recommend while I get those tires? Costco does not do alignment nor check for it ( I don't think I need it, car will stably drive straight)
d) Any other pitfalls?
I am looking for pointers and personal experiences. I know the decision is always mine, but I came here for help! Thank you for sharing your time again!
