why are desert beetles pitch black despite black being a deadly color in a hot climate

like they say never wear black in the desert or you will cook to death (black absorbs heat)

however it seems insects break that rule. Is it these beetles come out at night (so it does not matter if they are black since the sun is not out/they are more camoflaged etc?)
