Does anyone else experience sudden cold waves running through their body during moments of emotional stress?
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share something I’ve been experiencing and see if anyone else can relate or has some insight.
Sometimes, during moments of emotional stress — like feeling hurt, frustrated, or anxious — I get this really sudden, intense sensation of cold that seems to start in my chest and quickly spreads through my whole body, like a wave of ice or a cold “vine” running through me. It lasts about 2–3 seconds and then disappears, but it feels very sharp and physical, almost like a brief freeze or shock.
Along with this, I sometimes feel a tightness or squeezing sensation in my chest. It’s not panic or fear exactly, but more like my body reacting very strongly to the emotion itself. I’ve read that this might be related to an adrenaline surge or a response from the autonomic nervous system, but I’m curious if others experience this too and how you deal with it?
Does anyone else get these sudden cold waves or similar physical reactions tied to anxiety or emotional stress? How do you interpret or cope with them?
Thanks for reading!
