Am I in the right?
I’m a 23 yr old female and I live with my mom still. Long story short I go to therapy for a lot of things but one of them being my mom’s behavior. My therapist thinks it’s narcissistic abuse. I have a medical condition that she has done a fantastic job at helping me navigate since I was 11. But with this I was never aloud to do things because of her own fears.
I’m now an adult. Since I was never aloud to party or hang out with friends in highschool, I’m trying to play catch up at 23. I want to go to a bar tonight with an old friend. But it’s being met with “Who’s driving” “you can’t stay out past a certain hour” “I won’t go to bed till you’re home” (thus guilting me to come home early). She will blow up my phone and she even tracks me at 23. If I delete the app I will be yelled at for it.
Am I crazy in thinking this is extreme and I should be able to go out when I want to without a curfew??
I have to lie to friends about why I can’t go to big city areas. If I drive 15miles to bar hop I’m immediately left feeling guilty to the point I don’t go.
I had to lie to them tonight so I could actually catch a break.
I get she’s raising a daughter with a disability but I’m also human, an adult, capable of the same things as them. It’s past the point of concerned mom.
Am I over reacting to this situation??
