Just finished WASPS & it’s like Gone Girl & Pretty Little Liars had a Canadian Baby!
Not sure how this one hasn’t blown up yet, but I just finished a novel called Wasps by J Grabell on Kindle and I’m still thinking about it.
It starts innocently—a women’s gardening club. They drink wine. They talk about compost. They slowly unravel into beautifully restrained chaos. By the end, I was laughing and lowkey disturbed in the best way.
If you’re into: • Gone Girl energy but more subtle • Women quietly losing it under the weight of emotional labour • Dry humour, moral ambiguity, and slow-burn tension • Symbolism that actually means something (yes, the wasps hit hard)
…you’ll probably devour this.
The writing style is literary but totally readable. Think Ottessa Moshfegh meets Liane Moriarty—with a scalpel.

📘 Title: Wasps 🖋️ Author: J Grabell 📱 Read it on Kindle (it’s under $5 right now and well worth it)
Would love to hear if anyone else has read it—or has similar recs for dark, character-driven fiction with emotionally messy women and quiet horror.
