After years of bartending drunk with no reviews I just got 2 bad reviews sober
I'm not proud of it obviously. Towards the end my employer did pull me aside and said they were worried about me and I needed to stop. I did. It's been around 5 months I've been sober.
But yeah I would go out for "lunch" before my shifts, come in already pretty toasted and rip shots with regulars. Shots with co workers. Years. Messed up orders, played bad music loud, probably made comments I thought were funny but came off rude AF. No reviews.
Today I was alone, my bar and tables inside and out filled up and I was also doing basic set up for the week gotta clean and order this and that. And I was actually feeling positive and more friendly than usual today.
Husband and wife both left basically the same review, one star, "great food service terrible didn't say more than 5 words to us I bartended for 10 years and would never act like thar on my worst day" AND THEY BOTH WROTE MY NAME
SPEAKING OF WORST DAY since I stopped drinking my life has been a FUCKING NIGHTMARE. Every single day something fucking noteworthy happens. A week into sobriety my husband suddenly became a different person, said he doesn't feel the same way about me and it started years ago because of my drinking. He's also an alcoholic and hasn't stopped, in fact is drinking more now. Barely speaks to me but keeps saying "we don't talk". His much older brother moved in a year ago not paying rent and somehow has no money and still no job lined up. When he moved in he'd drink like 2 bottles of Jameson a day (hey I'm mad about my wife's drinking, I won't tell her that but it's a great idea to have my Jameson only drinking bro move in with two days notice so they can drink together all day tenfold). House is falling apart. Its basically a waiting game now of him handing me divorce papers but doesn't want to worry about it right now until we get the brother situation figured out. He's been so utterly cruel to me on top of it after 15 years I don't even know who he is. Can't talk to family about it because in the rare event we do work things out I don't want him to be forever demonized. Oh and I swiped a parked car by accident the other day trying to get a croissant which has been my only tiny 5 minutes of forced joy in the morning.
I brought their drinks and food and check in a timely fashion. I wasn't rude. I wasn't standing around doing nothing on my phone in the corner. But they'll never come back, and I might lose my job not from being wasted every day but because "the bartender, HAIRY_MUFFINTOP!!!, didn't say 5 words to us and made my husband and I feel insignificant" wouldn't act like that on my worst day my FUCKING ASS JEJSNBABSJSIENBMKH
