the broken box and the lost key

I loved you That I know for sure But I hurt you like no one before And you hurt me, just less directly

I don't understand this My brain rants on and on It's not that I want you back I know that would turn both of our hearts black But some part of me misses the darkness The pain, the sorrow, the love, the joy The sleepless nights thinking of what I could've done better The times we talked through those sleepless nights

I didn't deserve a heart like yours I was sure to break it, and I did I think πŸ’” Many, many times ⌚ Everyday I cut a new wound πŸ”ͺ I left you broken and bleeding 🩸 But you left with my key πŸ”‘ The key to my box, the box around my own bleeding heart The box I locked it in so it wouldn't bleed into the rest of my being the box I only had one key to

And you still have it, and I desperately want it back but I cannot receive it I promised no one would ever get that key again and then I met you Your heart still aching from another And for some reason unbeknownst to me I gave you that key But I didn't think to make a copy

You still have my key and I need it so desperately But I don't deserve it back, not from what I can see

My heart is locked and yours is cut from the brutality of the box

But I never got to tell you this so I'll say it now in a poem I shouldn't ever let you see

I'm sorry, keep the key, you deserve it more than me..
