Audio pops when enabled

II have a home-built system, ASUS RoG Strix X-570 with Realtek audio and Logitech digital surround speakers. Whenever I go into Steam to set a game to use Proton, I get a pop sound, as if Steam is initializing hardware. It's just a short pop, but I just wondered if there was a way to stop it from happening or if this is "normal" for this chipset. The surround audio works for all 5.1 speakers.
