Husband 30M doesn’t want postnup and insulted me 33F?

Just want to get some outsider opinions on this, especially from Catholic people since he claims it’s because i’m not catholic and don’t understand their way.

My parents have given me about 1m through multiple transactions in the past few years. They’re meant for their retirement and financial safety since the country they live in is not so reliable in banks or economy right now. Me and hubby are married for 2 years. We’re expecting a child due on October, which prompted us to think about estate planning. Recently I used parents’ money to pay off our house (me and hubby on the deed). In rough calculation 80% of the house price is paid by their savings (with their okay). So it is very important for me to make sure if something happens, my parents get the rest of their savings. Considering they don’t speak English that well and nor do they understand the system in US, I want to make the process (in case i die) as straightforward as possible for them. So after talking to estate lawyer with my husband and exploring options, I want to make a postnup that states their savings are separate property not marital assets. For clarification, the fund was transferred to me partly before and partly after I got married. And husband always is aware they’re for their retirement and not for us to use.

He said we could get a postnup. But today after I actually talked to a lawyer for that, he’s not okay. He doesn’t want to do it and gave different reasons at different times (during different arguments), including he doesn’t want a divorce, I don’t trust him to not steal my parents’ savings, he doesn’t want to spend money for a document that only benefits me, he’s worried i wold secretly transfer the money i earned during marriage to these accounts, he’s worried i would transfer his money to these accounts (he cannot tell me how i’ll be able to do this), etc.

I addressed all those concerns, and offered to pay for the lawyers with my account. Then he said we should not do it because we now need savings for baby. I told him and showed him I had 16k savings now. And my lawyer only asked for between 1k and 2k. His lawyer (it will be reviewed by both) will probably cost less or equal, considering they only need to review and it only involves this fund and not any other aspects of our finances or marriage. But he argues 16k savings is nothing. Which sounds like he’s making excuses because 1, I accumulated this amount just in about 2 months since we don’t have to pay mortgage anymore, and 2, I’ll accumulate more since I’m employed, 3, i feel unfair that i’m only allowed to spend money on baby not on anyone else i cared.

I was able to address all his concerns. Towards the end he said “this was a mistake. Only white people are human. You and you people are bugs. You’re no better than jewish. All you think is money.”

I feel like this has gone too far and too deep than it was meant to be. Am I being too obsessed about money? The postnup doesn’t even involve anything else except my parents’ fund. My attorney talked about arrangements for our earning during marriage since I earned more than 4x his earning, he wants to stop working to take care of the baby for 1-2 years so the attorney is concerned about alimony, etc, and I didn’t want to include any of that in the agreement. Yet he still accused me of not trusting otherwise we don’t need to spend thousands of dollars on the postnup. But in our past arguments he did say he would make divorce very difficult for me, and said he would have his father’s help and make me write a check to him, and would take 100% custody of the baby, and the judge would favor him because his family had money. Those said things was indeed traumatizing and left a bad taste and doubt in my mind. I don’t think I’m unreasonable to also want to address divorce not only death in the postnup. But I’m doubting the entire situation now. Anyone who dealt with similar circumstances before and any advice? Is a postnup this neutral that detrimental to relationships? I feel so exhausted from all the arguments, and depressed and emotional right now.
