Recent ADHD diagnosis and post-menopause

Hormone-Related Issues

I'm 47 and have been post-menopausal for 2 years. Yesterday I was diagnosed with ADHD and also ASD. I am on some menopause hormone therapy, but esteogen is limited due to a blood clotting mutation. I am seeking more medical help in that category, but the process is slow. I have had multiple symptoms of menopause that are at varying levels with the MHT I have now.

Now that I know I have ADHD and better understand how that affects me, I'm realizing that it really is causing problems at work. I work in finance and frequently have to be "quick thinking" which has slowed in the last year or so. I'm definitely having issues with working memory and I'm not longer able to multitask like I used to.

For women who were diagnosed later in life, have you found ADHD medicines to be helpful? I'm just starting to look into this. Previously I thought I wouldn't want medication for ADHD, but now I'm willing to try.

Note that I already have good sleep hygeine, regular exercise and a healthy diet. I'm also currently working part time (due to a mental breakdown last year) but will have to return to full time eventually. I am going to incorporate some ADHD startegies as well (still researching that).
