TFI 2-part craze analogy/rant

DISCUSSION

IMO there are 2 kinds of multi-part movies (not including actual sequels like toy story 2 or tillu 2):

LOTR and the Hobbit.

LOTR is when there's a long script that is split into multiple parts based on necessity, it feels natural and each film feels complete and satisfactory. There is no extra fluff added, everything feels justified. The breaks between movies were added after a complete story. Probably the only example of this in TFI is Bahubali.

The Hobbit is when you have a normal length story (maybe about 3 hours), but you want more profits so you split it into multiple parts. This requires adding extra fluff, more elevations and plotlines that do not contribute to the main story. This causes the interval and climax portions (remnants of original story) to stand out and rest to feel laggy and inconsequential. This also dilutes what potentially couldve been a good original story and makes the overall thing seem dull. Each part feels unsatisfactory due to all the fluff. 99% of TFI 2-parters fall under this one.

I definitely feel like producers are forcing directors to extend it to 2 parts and diluting their creative vision. Hopefully this trend stops soon.
