Etiquette question - passing a group of riders

Somehow I had never run into this situation until today. If you’re on a two-lane highway and find yourself behind a group of four or more motorcyclists, is there a right way to pass? Should you only pass when you can pass all four of them? Is it ok to take them 1 or 2 at a time if the available passing distances are short?
