MX5 RF ND1 windows rolls too far up

Hi there, as a new MX-5 owner, I've got a bit of a problem with my passenger window.

The car is right-hand drive (UK version).

For an unknown reason, my passenger window rolls up too far, far enough to prevent it from opening/closing safely without catching the B pillar (yes this white spot on the passenger side pillar is how I found that out *ouch*) . It rolls too far up only when the roof is down; the only thing that stops it from going further up is the B pillar.

I've attached two pictures, both windows rolled as far up as possible, and you can see that the passenger side is significantly higher (2nd pic).

It also causes the issue with closing the roof if the passenger window is rolled up too far. The roof will close successfully, but when it tries to get the window back to the position where it was, it can't, as the roof prevents it from going that far, so it rolls it halfway down (seems like some jamming safety feature).

NOTE: I'm not pressing any buttons (except holding the roof button)

If I open and close the roof without touching the passenger window, it will do this up/down window cycle successfully without rolling it halfway down after the roof is closed.

I've tried disconnecting the battery and doing the up/down window cycle, holding at the top/bottom position for 5+ seconds. Doesn't help.

Also, "Auto-opening" works fine on both sides.

I've seen some videos on YouTube of people having more or less the same issue. Like this one, for example (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/8EyFjeCp2wk). Which I believe is probably caused by the same issue.

The car doesn't have any aftermarket modules installed (at least to my knowledge).

The questions are: has anyone figured out why that happens, and is there a way to fix it without trying to replace every part until it fixes itself?

The only simple fix I haven't tried yet is changing the fuse.
