SO LONG LSAT (goodbye rant)

Today I took the test for the second and last time, and I have never been happier. When it comes to this fuckass test, I swear the universe has been out to get me. Still, I endured and finished strong. This is my story. A well deserved rant and final goodbye!!

I started my journey this time last year, and what a whirlwind it was. After a measly 3 months of prep, I cancelled my first test (Nov) out of pure terror. I was completely burnt out and no where near where I had hoped to be. And that is okay! I took a few weeks off and bounced back. My first take ended up being in January, so naturally I spent the holidays in analytical seclusion. I ended up scheduling the test in person 5 hours away. When I arrived at my hotel 9pm the night before, they refused to let me check in because I was 20 (for only 10 more days mind you). Could you imagine the HORROR? I was finally here and finally ready and had absolutely nowhere to go! Fantastic! Panicked, I ended up having to get a room last minute at the hotel next door (using college student inventory). Wasn’t settled in the room until 11:30pm, and was up at 5 the next day. Got a 163 by the grace of god!

I did way better than I thought I ever would, so I decided I could do even better than that. Took a month off and began again, this time set out for 170+. Today was my second attempt, this time 4 hours away. 5 minutes from the hotel last night, my car began misfiring! Yay!! Are you shitting me? BARELY made it to the hotel, ubered to prometric this morning, and had my baby towed away while I took the exam. Luckily, my friend came to take me back and i’m home now. My car is not. She’s at a mechanic in buttfuck and probably will be for a week or two. Whatever. I’m home now and DONE WITH THIS TEST!!! WHOHOOO!!!

This exam has taken years off my life. After months and months of relentless training, I feel like I know absolutely everything there is to know about this test. And for what? What now? It’s like I don’t know what to do with my hands. Like when you get out of a long term relationship and are left with an index of now useless extensive knowledge on random shit like their Aunt Sue’s hip replacement. Who cares? It’s all irrelevant now. BG, CTX, fluff, if you will.

I’m not sure what I scored today. Most likely I somehow beat 180 and you will be hearing about me on the news soon. Regardless, I am so grateful I was able to get a decent score first round and to finally be here today to close this chapter. Now it’s time to do everything I was putting off until after the LSAT!!

Thank you to this sub for making me feel sane when no one around me couldn’t begin to relate. Thank you to all the top scorers and fear mongering trolls for making this sound elementary. You scared the shit out of me, and that made me so much stronger. For everyone just beginning your journey, please take care of yourself. Remember it is just a test!! Work hard, but never at the expense of your well being. And for those of you who are also at the end of an era, best of luck with your apps (unless youre applying to my top schools of course). This is the moment we have worked so hard for! Now is when the fun begins. Just think, a year from now we will be settling in at the law school of our dreams!!

So long, LSAT!! You sure were something.
