Is metal the best as it ever were now?

For a while I got a bit tired of metal (from 2008-2020 more or less).

It seemed to me that it got stuck and every band of each sub-genre just seemed like the same band.

I don’t if it just because I’m paying attention again but there are so many good bands, so much innovative sounds.

In my point of view bands just don’t care for purists anymore and are not afraid to bend genres and this really positively influences the sound.

Shit like Zeal & Ardor, rezn and papangu are phenomenal.
