Questions regarding punk

How has the punk “community” changed through the years since its conception? And why is being “punk” almost synonymous with anti religion? I see everywhere anti religious sentiment and one sided standards for Christianity, it is just confusing. I am asking respectfully and in good faith, plz no death threats
