Pulling Pilot Bearing Race

Hey all, I'm working on my Ford zx2, dropped the transmission to put in a new clutch kit because I can't get it to go into gear and the pilot bearing was absolutely shredded and is most likely the reason it wouldn't pop into gear. I'm left with only the bearing race at this point and the pilot bearing puller I have keeps slipping off the race. I can't modify it as it's an AutoZone loaner tool, otherwise I can think of a couple of ways I could get it to grip. I don't think I can use the grease method as there's basically nothing to seal against my alignment tool. I'm kinda stuck at this point and really don't wanna take the flywheel off to hammer the race out. Anyone have any ideas as to how I could get it out?
