leaving a family

Yesterday the oldest of 3 kids (he is 9) called me a servant because I am paid to do what they say. For the record I don’t let the kids order me around and am very firm on them cleaning the messes they make but I will always help if they want to do teamwork. They are used to being in charge and are spoiled and I refuse to engage in behavior/language that enforces it. Huge pet peeve of mine.

The parents were there when he said that and the dad took it seriously but the mom made jokes and asked if she is their slave because she isn’t paid to take care of them. The dad tried to have a convo about it but it wasn’t constructive and guiding enough. They should have told him point-blank that it is unkind and disrespectful to call someone a servant. I did not like how the parents handled it.

However, he is growing up with a staff of people so he unfortunately is spoiled and has a skewed perception on the world. He is overly confident too, complaining that he is too smart for his fancy private school and that public school is gross. Typical spoiled and privileged behavior from a kid who doesn’t know any better.

I let the mom know that I would be stepping back because of that. There are other reasons too but it was a hurtful comment and I don’t feel valued and respected by the parents either.

I am lucky I have other families who need me and love me so I can stop working with them.

OH!!!!!!!!, and she was being difficult with payment (this is before I said I can’t work with them anymore). I worked 10:30am-6:15pm for $35/hr. Plus $28 in gas and $18 in tolls. I was paid $308.50 total. She asked if I left at 6 and paid me before I texted back and asked if the payment amount was okay. I let her know I left at 6:15 and she said she only paid me until 6:00 and asked if it is okay. No it is not…. rich people are so fucking stingy and weird I refuse to work with filthy rich ppl anymore. I said sure and let her know I can’t work with them anymore. I want the money I worked for but don’t want to engage with her anymore over like $8. I have a feeling she won’t respond to my text explaining why I can’t work with them anymore.
