incoming first year, planning on studying neuroscience and biology, unsure what to get

title basically says it all, i can't decide on whether i should get a macbook or an ipad with a keyboard + pencil

jmy first year classes are pretty standard — bio, chem, comp sci, psych, etc

i've heard that the ipad was recently updated to act as a "mini mac" but idk how true that is and whether i should get it over a macbook

or should i get both?
