I've seen a lot of talk about the Unwithereds "not existing" or what not ever since Secret of the Mimic. Beneath Murray's Costum Manor, we see an area laid out very similarly to the FNAF 1 location with prototype versions of what are very clearly the Classics (the models we see in FNAF 1) and also four springlock suits. Because these models are definitely NOT the Unwithereds, many people are now saying they are just redesigns, and the Classics are in fact the designs used for the 1983 location (the first Fazbear's). However I wanted to present my opinion of which I don't think I have seen anyone yet saying.

In the FNAF 1 "recreation" area, we get two audio logs from Edwin.

"Test test... journal entry. I got the change order from Hen last night. None of this makes sense. I'm almost done. Why change it now? It would be so much easier to keep using the Springlocks. Just hire some teens to wear the suits like we always do."

This log is not so important to the Unwithereds discussion, however it is important to clarify that the prototype Classics are not springlock suits. This log is most likely just referring to the four spinglock suits (Fredbear, Springbonnie, Bub, and Monty) that we see down there as well. However this next log is what I believe explains everything.

"Are they insane? The look of these new animatronics is Fiona's design and they're great. First they approve the art. Then they approve the proofs. Now, they change their minds when we're so close to final. Why would they change them now? Are they pulling my leg? The new concepts are frankly creepy. It doesn't matter... I'm not changing a single bit of her work and they can't make me."

This log clearly shows two different design sets being present. Edwin is resisting this change in concepts, to keep Fiona's designs. So the Classics as prototypes here and as we see them in FNAF 1 are Fiona's designs. Fazbear Entertainment wants to switch to "creepier designs" and we don't see those. I believe those designs are the Unwithereds.

I figured the springlock audio logs was important to bring up because I feel that some people are thinking both of the logs are referring to the same change. But Edwin is noticeably more mad about Fazbear's wanting to change Fiona's designs. The ridding of spinglocks and the design changes were two different cases of Henry and Williams throwing changes at Edwin last minute and making him resent them.

So based on this one audio log, here is what I believe happens. Edwin did not finish working on the prototype Classics either because he died and Fazbear's ended up making the animatronics with the Unwithered designs they wanted, or Edwin decided to follow their orders and got the Unwithereds done and sent off and that's why we don't see them. I think the latter is much more likely, since Edwin was adamant about keeping Fiona's designs. But either way the Classic prototypes are never finished, or at least not to the extent that we see the springlock prototypes are.

Fazbear's Entertainment would still have Fiona's designs though, since they were shown the concepts and approved them. For the FNAF 1 location, they would not want to use the Unwithered designs due to their association with the MCI, but instead of coming up with new designs like the Toys, they simply used Fiona's designs.

Some other thing to bring up, the prototype area is very obviously the FNAF 1 location. With the Fazburger theory, it is likely the 1983 and FNAF 1 locations just use the same building. In FNAF 2, there are pre night "visions" where you are looking through Freddy's eyes and Chica and Bonnie are to your left and right. Chica and Bonnie are definitely the Classic designs and we also appear to be on the FNAF 1 main stage based on the room we see in front of us. The problem here is the Puppet shows up. I am not sure what these visions mean? It is unclear what happens to the Puppet after FNAF 2. If the visions are supposed to represent the Puppet giving them life, then this causes problems for the Unwithereds. But if these are just some shenanigans happening at the FNAF 1 location, then it all makes sense.

Let me know what you think. I have seen a lot of debate over the Unwithereds, and I haven't seen that Edwin audio log being talked about. To me, that one log explains the different designs between the Withereds and Classics. There is also the FNAF 2 Movie coming that will definitely bring back discussion. Thanks for reading.
