Starling bank scam
So I have recently had some suspicious activity on my starling bank using an old cancelled card so luckily none of the payments went through. I reported them to starling none the less so when I received a call claiming to be from starling fraud dept I never even questioned it. The caller asked if I'd made 3 card payments in Newcastle within the last 30 mins to which I said no. All felt very real. Sent me a text woth a verification code but told Me NOT to read 0ut the code so I didn't. Asked me to confirm my balance which I did, it wasn't very much I'm single parent working part time and it isn't payday ๐ . They asked if I transfer money to any other accounts to which I said yes and told the the name of the other bank provider they asked me to confirm that balance to which I did again it wasn't alot. They said someone had logged in to my online banking, told me a phone make and said they will cancel my card issue another and log the unknown device out of my online banking. Anyway it all seemed so legit until he told me to get a job and hung up! (I have one its just poorly paid ๐ ) thats when I started to panic so called starling who confirmed it wasn't them. They did issue a new card for me and explained about being vigilant. It's petrified Me though as I'm scared they know my log in details. Are they waiting for me to get paid and will take everything? I guess being a part time single parent saved me this time as the amounts I held did not interest them. The next day I actually received another text from the same number they had text me from saying I had a customer service message but I was too scared to open the app so called starling iv never received a text from them before the scam call but this time it actually was starling texting. It's made me so paranoid that this scammer is now watching My account.
