Just found the chillest spot in Baltimore! Root City Kava Bar 🧉✨

So I gotta put y’all on…

I stumbled into this spot called Root City in Mount Vernon, and I seriously did not expect to vibe this hard with a kava bar.

I wasn’t even super familiar with kava before this. It’s a drink made from a root (yeah, sounds weird at first) but it gives you this mellow, social buzz without alcohol. No hangover, no sloppy energy... just chill. Like, actually feel good and still be present chill.

The place is 3 floors of straight up good energy:

First floor has kava drinks, teas, NA kava cocktails (they’ve got stuff with mushrooms, blue lotus, and other botanicals too.), and comfy vibes.

Second floor is more lounge-style with events like Open Mic, dance nights, and live music.

Top floor is a retro gamer’s dream ... they got N64, PS2, old-school arcades, tournaments… I walked in and heard people shouting “Bula!” which I later learned was a Fijian greeting that is said while drinking kava. People all got togethwr and shouted it while doing kava shots like it was a secret society. 😂

There’s literally no alcohol but it’s still social af. People are cool, staff is friendly, and the drinks actually do something. Like, not that fake mocktail sugar water stuff. You feel it.

They do a ton of community stuff too ...yoga, artist meetups, gaming nights, comedy shows. And it’s not some corporate thing either, you can tell it’s a family business.

Anyway, if you’ve been looking for a place to vibe out without booze or just want to try something different ... this is it.
