Career change or shift out of the kitchen ?

Hey everyone,

Ive (28f) been working in professional kitchens since I was 18. Over the years, I’ve worked my way up to a sous chef role and spent about three years teaching culinary (not at a university, more in community based education).

I’ve also earned: • Associate’s in Culinary Arts • Bachelor’s in Food Service Management • Master’s in Education (focused on culinary, post-grad)

I recently made a big move from the East Coast to the West Coast, and it’s forced me to really reevaluate my career path. While I still love working with food, I’m burnt out from the long hours, lack of work-life balance, and how demanding the industry is especially for what it pays.

I was previously earning a decent income and I can’t afford to start over in a new role or industry making minimum wage. I’m open to a career shift ideally something that still uses my culinary and education background but I want something sustainable, with good compensation and room to grow.

If anyone’s been through a similar transition or has advice on roles that value this kind of background (without the burnout), I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks in advance!
