Prospecting Accounting Student

Hey guys, current accounting student from WA but I currently live in phoenix and I attend GCU, as you can probably guess I am earning a bachelors in accounting, and I do plan on getting a masters I just don’t know where yet. Anyways I have a 4.0 and I do free tax returns through a program for low income households. I would like to be a CPA/Consultant back home in WA. Anyways my main question is does my school matter? Some people from my school have gotten jobs at big 4. I don’t really plan on big 4, I’m more looking into something “mom and pop” and community involved. Anyways honest answered and advice appreciated. Some people say accounting specifically is a field where your degrees source isn’t really of importance as long as you have your CPA and the skills to back it up
