How to chose a weapon based on your frame?

So Im at a point where I want to start having a bunch of different loadouts for each of my frames with weapons that would make sense with their kits. My main question is how do you go about to chosing a good weapon for your frame?

An example of this is Citrine, where her 3 does its thing when you or your allies do weapon damage to enemies, this means a weapon with a high fire rate is good, and since the aurora from her 3 boosts your status chance and status duration, going for a high status chance and high fire rate weapon is probably best right?

So what about other frames? How do you go about to making this kind of decision when their abilities dont necessarily have anything specific like that, like Nekros, or Hydroid, or Saryn?
