Trump slaps extra 25% tariff on India over Russian oil imports

President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing an additional 25% tariff on all Indian imports, citing India’s continued purchase of Russian oil. The measure will take effect 21 days after signing and comes on top of country-specific tariffs announced earlier.

Trump called Russia’s actions in Ukraine an "unusual and extraordinary threat" to U.S. national security and foreign policy, justifying the move under that premise.

The order also empowers the Commerce Secretary to monitor other countries importing Russian oil and to recommend similar actions if needed.
