Pharmacy causing issues?

Other Civil Matters

I’m not entirely sure what category this falls into with law, but there’s something really suspicious happening at my local pharmacy.

Ever since I’ve switched to this pharmacy, they’ve refused to refill my medication early. I understand that this can be the pharmacist’s choice, however, this case was an emergency. I brought this up, and was told to wait until today. So I went the night without sleep.

The weird thing is that my last month of medication said on the bottle and the pharmacy receipt that it was filled on July 6th, not July 7th. However, she made me wait until July 7th to pick it up. I tried to explain that I didn’t have any pills. She told me I had to wait.

My fiance went in and reiterated that it was an emergency, and she told him that I should have one pill left. I didn’t. She started to accuse me of drug seeking, despite the fact that I’ve been on this medication for 8 years and have no history of ever abusing it. My fiance stated that maybe there was an error in the system, and she immediately got offended and stated that they count the pills. We still don’t know where the extra pill went, and nobody suspicious has been in my home.

In going back in today for my medication, when my fiance asked for them to count it in front of him, they started whispering behind the counter about drug seeking. She also made us pay for it out of pocket, despite the fact that I’m due for a refill and my insurance has paid for it every other time.

When he got home, I looked at the label and receipt, and again, it’s labeled as a day early. It seems as if the pharmacist is filling them a day early (for what reason?), and then making me come pick them up the next day, despite telling me that it couldn’t be refilled until today.

Also, today was the very first time that they had ever asked for an ID when picking up my medication, even though I’m pretty sure that’s illegal?

At this point, something feels incredibly off. I’m debating calling corporate, but my mom said that because I’ve been forced to pay out of pocket and suffer through days without my medication, I should see if I can pursue legal action.

Any other information: I have been using this specific pharmacy for 3 months, and have had no problems UNTIL switching to this specific pharmacy. I am autistic, so cutting cold turkey on my medication can be dangerous, especially one that I’ve been on for 8 years.
