🚨CVS: Revised Return Policy / Requesting Your ID / Returns Denied due to consumer’s history elsewhere
I’m sure this has been discussed.
CVS has dramatically changed their return policy.
It is NO longer returns accepted with a receipt within a certain timeframe.
Now, associates are asking for your ID after you present the receipt!
“Can I have your ID, please?”
REFUSE THIS.
CVS has hired a 3rd party company to evaluate each consumer’s purchasing & returning habits when deciding whether to accept a return.
The next time I have to return something at CVS, I am NOT presenting my ID.
This is like opting out or refusing tracking cookies on your computer or phone.
This is an invasion of privacy.
Just because it’s their new policy, does not make it right or necessarily legal.
So, if someone returned something recently to another merchant that is connected to the 3rd party’s network that CVS is employing to evaluate each consumer’s returns, that consumer may get denied the right to make a perfectly legitimate return.
This is literally Big Brother.
If someone returned something elsewhere, how does that make someone’s return not eligible at CVS?
Maybe something did not fit in both instances.
I don’t think people should put up with this policy.
Consider contacting your:
- local congressperson’s office
- mayor’s office
- governor’s office
- town council
- chamber of commerce
- local TV station’s consumer advocate reporter (“Help Me…” or “The i-Team” or check the station’s website)
The next thing you know, this network for evaluating returns will be huge & people will not be able to make 2 returns to 2 separate merchants in the same week.
People will be stuck with clothes that don’t fit even though it says “returns with a receipt” because there’s a tiny font mention that there are restrictions on this.
This policy is greed masked in “loss protection”. People should be allowed to make returns within reason & their consumer history should not be a part of that.
This has to be stopped before it becomes the new normal.
