Solicitor (England) left firm B to move to firm C and did not tell me - is this normal?

I hired a solicitor to do help with some legal filings for my small business. He left his original firm (Firm A) and asked if I wanted to sign a contract with the new firm he joined (Firm B) for services to be rendered. I signed a contract because he is a good solicitor. That was 9 months ago, and he has since left the new firm and moved on to another firm (Firm C).

I received no notice of this from Firm B or from the solicitor, himself. Is this normal?
