Dear Friends:

On behalf of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, I extend to you a cordial invitation to the

rededication of the grave of Jerome Jefferson Morford (1841-1910). Comrade Morford was a member of

Company K, 55th Illinois Infantry, American Civil War, and for his actions as a member of the “volunteer

storming party” on 22 May 1863 at Vicksburg, Mississippi was awarded the Congressional Medal of

Honor by a grateful nation.

Comrade Morford’s grave was marked with an MOH marker some years ago, but due to the death of our

then-Commander, Ken Richmond, the ceremony of dedication was not held. It is my honor to rectify that

oversight.

The ceremony will be held at his grave site within Riverton Crest Cemetery, 3400 South 140th, Tukwila,

Washington where Comrade Morford is interred next to his wife Amanda, who died in 1891. We

anticipate that the ceremony will begin, rain or shine, on August 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

Feel free to contact me at or at my e-mail, shinodad@gmail.com, with any questions.

In fraternity, charity, and loyalty,

James L Dimond, Commander

Isaac I Stevens Camp #1, Sons of Union Veterans
