Still no clarity regarding defensive contributions?

Somehow there is still no clarity about whether we should be using tackles attempted vs tackles won when calculating defensive contributions. To make the examples provided by fpl work it appears to be tackles attempted. However, this seems insane. To add to the confusion, on the fpl website they provide a table of top players for defensive contributions, but they include an asterisk with the note “*projected totals”. What does this mean? Projecting for what?

If you are introducing a new rule surely you need to be clear about how it works? Just tell us if it’s tackles won or tackles attempted, blocked shots or blocked shots and passes, etc.
