Successful got a Faro Arm program on to my Zeiss Contura
Just wanted to share a big personal win: I successfully took a measurement program that was originally created on a FARO arm using Calypso 2018 and got it running on a Zeiss Contura using Calypso 2023. The FARO arm used to be in my building alongside our machines, and I used it all the time — but when a senior inspector transferred to another building (with different machines), he had to take the FARO arm with him. Since the Zeiss CMM was close enough to me, I didn’t technically need the FARO, but the part was way easier to check on it. Still, I had to make it work — and that meant converting the FARO program for the CMM.
I switched all the features from manual probing to CNC-compatible strategies so the Contura would run the program automatically. I also had to adjust the probe setup, swapping out the FARO sensor and mapping everything to a stylus system compatible with the Zeiss. After redoing the alignment and tweaking clearance planes, the program ran clean. Honestly, with the version jump (2018 to 2023) and hardware differences, I didn’t expect this to work — but it did. Definitely a big achievement for me.
