Should I travel to Charleston or the Hamptons ?

I have two dogs looking to do a solo trip with them. The Hamptons are closer to me and I could rent a house with a pool that the dogs could swim in but not sure what there is to do by yourself. Charleston I love but it’s about a two day drive back and forth.
