match bonuses

a bit confused on what exactly 1.50% is as a bp bonus? why did they change how it looks. i was told 1.50% = 50% bp bonus. if it’s 50% why not just put 50%? the only reason i can think of why they changed this is to have it appear more appealing as if we will make more? just something i’ve thought about every time i see the bonuses and i wonder why it’s like that now
