Sorry for my bad english. Marked as NSFW, because I think this guy is really ill.

This is my betta. He doesn’t have a name. I got him from my ex girlfriend. I never asked for this fish, but I decided to keep it anyway. She gave him to me in that “glass ball aquarium” or whatever you call it. Felt bad for little guy so I got him a 20 L tank, 3 different plants, sponge filter and a snail to eat the algae. I change his water once every week and clean the aquarium as well. Feed him about 10-12 pallets a day.

But for the last month or so he just stopped swimming. He only eats when I put the food close to his mouths. He only goes up to get some air.

At first I thought it was something with overfeeding and his bladder, so I tried daphnia and fasting him, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

But there’s more. The skin around his eyes appears to be ripping off and I can see something black underneath when I look closer. Also, when he swims for a little his back curves, like he has a scoliosis. And when he swims to get air he kinda just hovers around, nose pointing to the ceiling.

For the last year and a half he was fine but now his behaviour changed completely. And I am about to start college so there won’t be anyone to take care of him. I can’t take him with me.

The fish is about 2 years old or close to 2 years old. I also want to mention that I haven’t checked water quality in a loooong time.

What do I do? Honestly, I was thinking about euthanasia, because I don’t think I have money or time for any kind of treatment that will be needed.
