Is there any good use for Dual Blades?

I love them, cool as all hell, the idea is great.
But do they have any advantage over shield? Apart from deflects that sometimes work?

So far, from what I understand, in a direct 1v1 Dual Blades lose almost any melee encounter, be it either by either having less DPS (HP%-wise), not having any mobility (melee lights), or sometime just not doing damage at all (blades hit a Shield Med.. that still damages you).

Sure, sometimes it's funny when an incompetent sniper headshots himself. But.. is it really just a funny weapon that only works against inexperienced players and crumbles against.. pretty much every other matchup?

Or is it actually possible to get good with them?
