Wii Controls on Steam Deck: my right trackpad, despite being properly mapped for ‘Swing’ will not recognize left and right swipes / taps or circular motions. Only up and down. Any ideas?
Hi,
I am creating a control scheme for MadWorld (2009). It’s the only Wii game I’ve ever wanted to replay.
I am happy to report that my control scheme is mostly functional, and I’ve managed to complete the first level of the game with a score of 3 million. I’m having a blast.
However, as the title says, I’m having trouble getting full functionality out of my Steam Deck OLEDs trackpads.
In motion simulation settings, I have my right trackpad mapped to Up/Down/Left/Right, but currently, only the up and downwards motions are recognized as inputs in-game. This is also reflected in the calibration viewer in Dolphin; Left and right inputs do not show up.
Additionally, I’m not sure if it’s possible to get circular motions recognized? Correct me if I’m wrong?
Does anyone know what might be causing these issues, and if there are any common fixes?
I think the game could overall be even more fun if I can calibrate the trackpads correctly to bring back some of the motion play. Later on, I even want to try adding gyro.
I would really appreciate any assistance, and I’m happy to provide screenshots / other information as necessary.
When I can perfect the control scheme, I’d like to share it here and in other subreddits so other emulator fans can enjoy this game on the go (or at home) without Wii-motes.
Thank you!
