How does stuff I build in my game effect others?

I’ve been trying to figure out why bridges my friend creates in the game they wont appear for me when I’m in that section of the game? If someone creates a bridge, would that bridge appear for everyone who’s playing the game or only limited few? Does anyone know how the community sharing aspect work in DS2?
