Does anyone else think kids sharing a room makes for more independence at bedtime?
My kids are 3 and 4 and having shared a room forever. They're 16 months apart and we moved the younger one into the shared room when he was like 2 months old.
This is just my own experience, but my kids have never needed us to lay with them, stay in the room with them, etc. to fall asleep at night. I'm sure they would love for us to do that, but it's just never been a huge problem for our kids to fall asleep at night.
When I read other parent's posts about their kids not wanting to be left alone at night, I always wonder if the presence of the sibling is doing us a huge service that I haven't fully appreciated. Of course, there's plenty of nights where they argue and keep each other awake and come into our room complaining about the other.... but in terms of being okay with us leaving the room, it's never really been a huge issue.
Anyone else else think the key to their kids sleeping so well independently is really about them being able to depend on each other rather than us?
