Embroidery Sampler Inspired Book for Punch Needling?

Mostly exactly what the title says, kinda like this book on Etsy and this person's stitch journal. I'm not necessarily interested in making it a reference piece, but to hold different personal designs all centered around a similar theme.

I've seen some cloth books linked with metal hoops and figure I can finess it with monk's cloth, but I really like the idea of a proper binding. Any tips on making this from scratch and/or tips for designing the pages?
