Exhaust drone
I’ve got a 2016 gti with an aftermarket exhaust and the drone is killing me and anyone that sits in the back. It’s a CTS downpipe mated to a vibrant 17950 resonator that flows to a magnaflow exhaust. I’ve sound deadened the trunk, rear hatch, and rear doors but that hasn’t helped. The odd thing is I had the same setup without the extra sound deadening and it was completely fine up until I was rear ended a couple years ago. The exhaust is clamped so I’m not sure if welding the pipes would help, but when I added the sound deadening it didn’t really change much in the cab. Happens when the car is around 2000-2500rpm. Apart from potentially welding the exhaust the only other thing I haven’t tried is moving the tips out farther or getting a new exhaust. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
