What are some subtler signs? DAE experience these?
I’m pretty sure I experienced CSA by my girl scout troop leader and maybe one other male adult that I know of, which probably triggered my diagnosed DID, but DAE experience these “subtler signs?”
Like I don’t remember learning about sex, but when my Mom explained where babies come from when I was in the 3rd grade, I already figured it out and knew. I also had OCD in elementary, particularly contamination OCD where I always think I was “dirty” and an obsession with my bed being “clean.”
In addition, I heard medical conditions like chronic pain tend to be common and I have chronic migraines and suspected POTS. I also get random abdominal cramps despite having no period due to birth control and T. I’m obese due to antipsychotic treatment (I have a psychotic mood disorder since elementary) and wearing baggy clothes cause for as long as I remember, I HATED showing off my body and wearing fitted clothes.
When I was young, I used to have severe insomnia and was a super light sleeper, but about five years ago, I started sleeping excessively and super deep (I also was diagnosed with OSA AND TECSA in 2022 and 2025 respectively). I sleep through earthquakes, fire alarms, and tornado warnings with ease. But when I was young, someone whispering my name would have my eyes flash open and me jump on my feet.
(TW: libido, sex, and nightmares) I go through periods where we randomly have high libido and then suddenly not at all and feel disgusted with the thoughts of touching myself. When I was with my ex, he described me as hypersexual. However, I have unpleasant dreams about being assaulted (especially by my cousin), but I dont wake up in a sweat so I dont consider them nightmares.
I feel like I’m pretending to be normal and that I’m holding som deep dark secret. I flinch at sudden movements starting when I was very young. Every time I see my sisters (they’re 8 and 3), I feel a strong urge to protect them especially in “dangerous”situations like playing on the playground.
In effect, I also thought I was asexual for the looking time since I thought we were sex-averse, but when I left for college, we eventually came to the realization and acceptance we were bisexual. I’ve always been hyper-independent, terrified to ask for help and have an adult come over.
I could go on, but what are some of your signs that you didn’t think much of or attributed to something else until you learned you experience CSA?
