Hiring process

So i applied back in February for city department as a probationary officer. I have passed all exams poly/physical and psyche. After i got all these done i was called in for finger prints and the started more of a thorough back ground check. Its been 3 weeks going on four since I’ve heard from anyone. Is this normal or should i reach out and check in for and update. I really want this opportunity so dont know if im just being anxious. Any info helps thanks
