Getting off tretinoin caused acne rebound

I’ve used tretinoin everyday for 3 years now and it’s happened twice to me when I skipped a few days and my acne came back with a vengeance. I think it has to do with my skin being used to the cell turnover and then suddenly having that taken away.

Recently, I stopped tretinoin and my acne came back I thought I was having an allergic reaction. I continued to stop tretinoin and it worsened. My acne has much improved now using it. Almost feels like the tretinoin is calming my skin. It’s odd because we mostly think the opposite that it irritates the skin. I guess if you use it long term and frequently, it can be anti inflammatory.
