Sensitivity to fumes

Technical question?

Hello!

I have been painting with oils intensely for around 6 years. I go to the studio everyday and I also teach. However, I have been irresponsible regarding ventilation during a specific period, and I painted in an apartment where it was impossible to separata my "studio" from my living area. I developed bronchitis and coughed for an entire year until I went to a lung doctor. She diagnosed me with some type of allergic induced pulmonary diseased and gave me some medication. While it improved, it never went away. Today I taught in a program with 14 students using low odor solvents and after a few hours started feeling shortness of breath. The studio was very large and well ventilated.

With that said, I already started using a mask appropriate to filter organic fumes/oil fumes while painting in the studio, but its is impossible to keep that on for teaching.

That said, I am a little bit hopeless and I am inclined to stop teaching programs that include oils. But I would love to hear about anyone who had similar experiences - how did you deal with the frustration, tricks to transition to a safer way of working etc.

I also heard I would probably benefit from finding a good IMMUNOLOGIST, and I am curious if someone has any insights on what medical advice I should look for
