[QCRIT] New to this. Big Idea. Need Help!
Hi everyone, ♡
I’m an 18-year-old storyteller and artist, and for as long as I can remember, creating stories has been the core of who I am. I’ve written all my life; not just for fun, but as a way to process the world. Over the years I’ve developed several creative projects. But nothing has consumed me quite like my current work.
For the past 9 months, I’ve dedicated myself fully to writing The Noir Presents, a project that I plan to make into a vintage, Disney-esque storybook. The story takes place in seven different parts, and I have only written the first. However, the entire story is completed, and just needs to escape my mind onto paper. But for now, I just needed to look for help on how to get started. I’ll explain the concept in more detail below, but first: I’m here because I just made this Reddit account specifically to connect with other writers, editors, and publishing-minded people. I know I want to pursue writing professionally, but I don’t know where to begin when it comes to feedback, revisions, querying, or even just being seen. If anyone is willing to offer advice, guidance, or critique, I’d be incredibly grateful.
Anyways,
The Noir Presents begins with a sinking ship. The Noir is a vintage cruise ship drifting through the Aegean Sea in Greek. It sinks beneath the waves and only person survives. But before we learn who, the story rewinds… twenty-four hours earlier.
There is no single main character. Instead, seven guests arrive aboard The Noir, each carrying a past they don’t speak of and a role they haven’t chosen. A widowed socialite. A debonair elder. A mysterious nun. A haunted groom. A dolorous adventurer. A bad-mannered child — who showed up with his mother. And the famous veiled girl, whose name alone casts shadows. As the ship floats toward Crete, their paths twist together. Stories unfold, hearts unravel, and the ship itself begins to feel like a stage. It is revealed that each of the guests is a sole survivor of a past traumatic event, and The Noir itself is crafted to test which on them will survive once again. And only one will be let off alive… but who?
The Noir Presents is an almost mythic, vintage storybook told through shifting perspectives and symbolic details. It’s not horror. It’s not fantasy. It’s the genre of life; timeless, haunting, and beautiful.
If anyone could give me advice, feedback, talk to me more, or anything - it would mean the world!
