Any advice in terms of choosing the right bank, right plan and what to take note of?

Hi all!

So after quite some time of being unemployed since my Honours studies (January)bI may be getting a new part-time job coming up.

To give you some background, I've been studying at university for around 4 years so I have very limited working experience and the highest amount of earned is probably R2000...which is shocking to look at BUT ALAS...

I've been with ABSA since 2019 and opened an account for my savings for my university fees.

I'm now using that same 'folder?' savings account for any leftover money I have and using it for everyday/random items I may need like grocery shopping or toiletries.

I'm not too familiar with banking and finance and savings and all the jargon that goes along with it, and I'm really wanting to better my knowledge to improve how I save my money and use it etc.

I'm looking for any advice as to how I can learn more about the above. Are there any South African YouTubers with a focus on financing I can look at to learn some things?

Do you recommend a particular Bank that will have certain benefits? Do I simply go to each bank and speak to someone for advice? I'm not wanting them to use big finance words or jargon and confuse me or have the focus on me joining their bank- I'm wanting to learn and investigate first to be smarter before making my choices.

Or do I stick with ABSA? And if I do so, which plan do I use?

Are there things I need to take note of? Any hidden costs or sugar-coated promises of so-and-so benefits to joining a certain Banking plan?

I'm wanting to really be smarter about this and learn some things so any advice is appreciated. πŸ™ˆπŸ“š

I really appreciate your time and thanks in advance!

Have a good day further. πŸ€—πŸŒž
