these photos are from a video chat with a genetics doc at UTSA prior to them mailing out a cheek swab as a follow up after i was helicopter airlifted in the late part of my 2nd trimester. I had tachycardia in my first pregnancy and a lot of pain but just figured that’s pregnancy. But 10
years later my husband wanted baby 2 and as you can see all hell broke lose.  It started end of trimester one with this deep painful burning in my hips. i would cry on and off through the night. They said it was probably hormones (they were right relaxin was about to wreck me). Anyway one day i go to push up out of bed and my shoulder both popped out. So i end up at the hospital again. They test for MCTD, shrug and give me an RA referal. A few weeks go by and i stand up from my vanity chair and i’m rolling on the ground my hip and femur have separated. Back to the hospital. This goes on and on. I do now have other issues (Lupus and Specfic Antibody defiencey that were solved post partum) but fuck it was bad. Anyway after the big incident where i turn blue, have a massive seizure (unrelated to ehelrs) i dislocate my collarbone, shoulder, right hip and go paralyzed on the right sidey oxygen goes to 74% i’m put on oxygen and helicopter lifted and admitted and they do a bubble study and say my heart is hyper mobile and on top of that a small hole that i must have been born with has now stretched into a massive hole in my upper chamber (ASD right to left shunt). So they put me on Lovenox, and oxygen for the rest of the pregnancy and i land in a wheelchair with a video chat referal to genetics. We get on the phone she asks me to do a bunch of stuff (see photos above). And she goes i’m sending you a genetics kit. Sure as shit I end up diagnosed with a form of ehlers. Then i develop preeclampsia and with the giant hole in my heart and new diagnosis she tells them it could split my heart so 2 months early emergency c section. 3 months later im at cardiac cath lab and they got me on the tab with tubes up my femoral when they say… without the blood pressure the hole has shrunk, it there but its so small we can fit the “talisman” device in it. So then i’m wheeled out with two nurse holding on to the puncture wounds to tell my husband it like shrunk itself
from this massive 20 bubble passing hole to nothing and then i had to stay on my back for 4 hours so my femoral punctures can seal.. which means my husband ends up dangling our baby like the crane game to breastfed off me.

and i just wanted to say all of that to say ehlers depending which you get is a range. it can be oh cool trick to jesus fuck i might die.

I got diagnosed in my 2nd pregnancy when a hole opened up in my heart and my valves began to regurgitate blood and spin clots into my lungs. I had to be airlifted, put on oxygen for the rest of the pregnancy then it got worse..
